Agriculture:
- Morden Research and Development Centre -- brings together expertise in the development of and uses for crops such as wheat, oats, barley, flax, pulse crops and landscape plants.
- Cereals Canada -- offers technical expertise and strong commercial experience with on-site processing and testing facilities.
- Manitoba Agriculture Diversification Centres -- conduct applied research and demonstrations on crops, technology and best management practices. Their work advances primary production while supporting sustainable agronomic solutions.
- Canadian Grain Commission, Grain Research Laboratory -- an internationally known centre for research on the quality of grain.
- Canadian Malting Barley Technical Centre -- provides technical assistance to the malting barley and brewing industries.
Life Sciences:
- The National Research Council Medical Devices Research Centre -- works with industry and the health care community to develop medical devices aimed at saving lives and reducing the cost of health care in Canada. Its state-of-the-art research facilities can be used in human, preclinical, tissue/fluid and nano-scale related studies.
- St. Boniface Hospital Research is a first-tier research facility that has gained a worldwide reputation for excellence in medical research.
- The Health Sciences Centre serves as one of the province’s two teaching hospitals and actively participates in the health industry’s research environment. Research is conducted through the following facilities:

Information and Communication Technology:
- Canadian Advanced Networks for the Advancement of Research in Industry and Education (CANARIE) -- through its Manitoba affiliate MRNet, offers members access to a Canada-wide high-speed optical network delivering unrivaled network capability for broadband research.
Industrial:
- The National Research Council Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility -- The new NRC Advanced Manufacturing Research Facility in Winnipeg has been built to meet the needs of local industries, businesses and academic communities as well as to increase the NRC's R&D capabilities in digital manufacturing and sustainable food packaging.
- Food Development Centre -- located in Portage la Prairie, provides state-of-the-art facilities for applied research and development for the food, beverage and feed industries. Clients can develop and produce new food products and processing technologies.
- Industrial Technology Centre -- provides mechanical testing, noise & vibration testing, lottery ticket testing and custom testing, as well as equipment calibration and rental, to companies in many sectors, including: aerospace, transportation, health, energy, environment, general manufacturing, building, architecture, and construction.
- Vehicle Technology Centre -- serves Manitoba’s heavy vehicle manufacturing industry. It provides a forum for promoting industry co-operation and for identifying ways to improve technological capacity within the industry.
- Prairie Agricultural Machinery Institute -- provides product development, durability testing, modeling, simulation and design to clients in the agriculture, mining, and transportation sectors. It offers its clients access to valuable agricultural testing and benchmarking equipment as well as first-rate testing equipment for industry.
- Red River College Polytechnic - Vehicle Technology & Energy Centre -- VTEC puts RRC Polytechnic researchers, staff, students and facilities to work for national and international manufacturers pursuing applied research in vehicle performance and development.
Multidisciplinary:
- National Research Council Canada -- composed of over 20 institutes and national programs located across Canada, encompassing a wide variety of disciplines and offering a broad array of services. Areas of research and industry support include: aerospace, agriculture, automotive and surface transportation, biology and biotechnology, chemistry and chemical engineering, construction, energy, environment, health and wellness, information and communication technologies, manufacturing, materials, nanotechnology and others.
- University of Manitoba Research Centres, Institutes, Affiliates and Groups - the University’s 40 research centres and institutes allow it to organize research programs according to broad areas of knowledge, providing unique opportunities to conduct research in multidisciplinary contexts.
- Red River College Polytechnic - Research Partnerships & Innovation -- the gateway to the knowledge, capabilities, facilities, and industry networks that reside at Red River College Polytechnic—a Canadian leader in applied research and commercialization. Its areas of focus are advanced design and manufacturing, clean technology, digital technology and health and nutrition and social sciences.
