Mintu Sandhu was elected as the MLA for The Maples in 2019. Sandhu grew up in Punjab, India and came to Canada as a teenager. Before he was elected to the Manitoba Legislature, Sandhu worked his way up to a leadership position in one of Winnipeg's largest taxicab companies. As an MLA, Sandhu has advocated for improvements to Manitoba's Provincial Nominee Program, promoting family reunification. He has been a staunch advocate for workers and new Canadians, ensuring wage protection for taxi drivers during the pandemic and supporting families who lost loved ones during a COVID-19 outbreak at the Maples Personal Care Home. Sandhu is proud to represent the people of The Maples, where he has lived for 34 years and where he and his wife raised their three children.
