The Business Number
The Business Number (BN) is a unique, 9-digit common business identifier assigned by the Canada Revenue Agency to a business or legal entity.
The Business Number
- allows business recognition at many doors of government using one number;
- removes the need to keep track of the many account numbers belonging to your business;
- ensures an integrated common collection of basic business information;
- facilitates collaborative service delivery between provincial, federal and municipal BN partners;
- gives the opportunity to expand e-services to business; and
- promotes the vision of One Business, One Number.
Manitoba adopted the Business Number as its common business identifier in 2003.
